10 years of Dublin flights with Flybe
Monday 29 April 2013Exeter-based airline Flybe, has marked the tenth anniversary of its popular service between Exeter and Dublin.
The route to Ireland has proved popular for passengers looking for an affordable break and an increasing number of long haul travellers are also spending the night in Dublin before departing on their onward Dublin flight (Destinations include 12 scheduled services to North America) without paying APD, the UK Government Air Passenger Duty.
Since 2003, Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has operated a total of 6,482 flights between Exeter and Dublin travelling a total of 1,439,004 miles!
Matt Roach, Exeter Airport’s managing director said: “Our passengers have the choice of six departures a week to Dublin and the route has been a huge success over the past 10 years. It again highlights the importance of regional aviation, with a range of great destinations available from your local airport, and inbound visitors to Devon and Cornwall able to benefit from flying directly into the heart of the South West”
Simon Lilley, Flybe’s Director of Marketing comments: “A decade of linking these two culturally vibrant cities is something we’re incredibly proud of and illustrates our commitment to establishing valuable, long lasting connections to key destinations, We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our passengers for their support in making this route the success it has become and look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries in the future.”
