Exeter Airport Managing Director joins Exeter College Board

Exeter Airport Managing Director Stephen Wiltshire has been appointed to the Board of Governors at Exeter College.

Stephen has a background in mechanical engineering and has been airport managing director for two years, and before that was operations director for 12 years.

The Exeter College Board of Governors is responsible for determining the mission and strategic direction of the College, and governors are drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds for their experience, knowledge and skills.

Exeter College offers a range of aviation-related courses, from aeronautical engineering through to cabin crew, airport operations, and travel and tourism qualifications delivered through the College’s Future Skills centre, just a stone’s throw from Exeter Airport

Speaking about his appointment Stephen said: “As a major employer in the Exeter area it’s vital we maintain close links with education providers so we can work together to make sure young people have the skills they need to succeed, and that those skills are what employers require. Exeter College has an excellent reputation and I look forward to forging even closer links between industry and education.”

John Laramy CBE, Principal and Chief Executive of Exeter College, said: “Place is really important to the College, it is therefore critical that we have a Board that reflects both our locality and our drive for the exceptional. As an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ College with the highest ranking for our approach to meeting the skills needs of our area, I’m thrilled that Stephen has joined our Board. His aviation sector experience and expertise will be a great asset to the College.”
