New Exeter – Hannover link

Flybe will be launching flights between Exeter and Hannover next spring

Flybe will be launching flights between Exeter and Hannover next spring. The route will operate via Newcastle and will begin on March 31.

Commenting on the new route Exeter Airport’s managing director Jamie Christon said; “Links to Germany have been on our wish list for many years and this route to Hannover looks set to please many travellers from the south west.  There has been a gap in the market and we are delighted that Flybe are able to provide a service that will also bring inbound tourism to the region.”

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said that friends and relatives of armed forces personnel based in northern Germany were likely to make up a considerable part of passenger numbers on the route, following the success of other Flybe-operated services between Hannover and the UK.
“Because of the large armed forces concentration in Hanover, we have built a large business in getting family and friends over there to visit,” he said.

As well as tourists, business travellers are likely to make up the remainder of passengers because Hanover has a strong light manufacturing base as well as a reputation as a conference centre.
