Aviation Minister visits Exeter Airport

Importance of Special Assistance highlighted

Aviation Minister Liz Sugg visted Exeter Airport today (16/11/18). She showed particular interest in the importance of offering Special Assistance to a growing number of passengers and the recent high rating of the service by the CAA. The tour of the terminal was conducted by airport Managing Director Matt Roach who introduced the Minister to Airport Duty Manager Anna Wroth, the lead on disability issues.

The visit was hosted by Sir Peter Rigby, CEO and Chairman of the Rigby Group which owns Exeter Airport; Andrew Bell, Chief Executive of Rigby Group’s Regional & City Airports (RCA) division.

Exeter Airport Managing Director Matt Roach added: “Our staff work very hard to provide the best possible passenger experience so we were very proud to showcase their achievement to the Aviation Minister. With a growing route network and increasing passenger numbers Exeter Airport continues to play a critical role in our region’s transport infrastructure.”

Aviation Minister Baroness Sugg said: “It’s been great to hear about the growing number of passengers and choices of routes at Exeter Airport. It’s clear to see the benefits that the airport brings to the region, from connecting people to other parts of the UK and abroad, to providing excellent employment opportunities. The Government’s new aviation strategy will help Exeter Airport go from strength to strength, providing a great passenger experience and benefitting the local community.”

RCA Chief Executive Andrew Bell, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Minister to Exeter Airport and discuss the hugely important role regional airports play in the UK economy. Not only do they provide national and international connectivity for people and businesses, they are drivers of economic growth and are significant direct and indirect employers of skilled people.”
