The start of 2012 has been bright for Exeter Airport with sales of the specialist flights to Italy up nearly 20% on the same period last year, and the new Norwich route bookings above expectations.
Newmarket Holidays, who offer selected dates to the Italian Lakes and tours that include the cities of Venice, Verona, Florence and Rome, are adding an extra holiday to Lake Garda in June this year because of the early interest. They also offer holidays from Exeter to Sicily, Sorrento, Northern Portugal and Croatia which are also selling well.
The much anticipated return of the Norwich service starts on 25 March; with a five hour saving on the road or rail journey times and with one way fares starting at under £50 the daily route with Loganair, which is bookable via Flybe, should prove popular for leisure and business travellers.
Matt Roach, the managing director of Exeter Airport said: “It is very encouraging to see the uptake of these routes and a bright start to 2012. Thomson’s flights to Sharm el Sheikh will also continue into the summer season and our transatlantic Toronto route returns in May.
“We are aware that for many finances are tight, but there are currently some fantastic offers, for example, Thomas Cook holidays to Turkey in May and June with a week in Marmaris on offer from under £200 per person.
“The airport’s management is also trying to keep car parking affordable with a special 10% discount when a promotion code is used (EXT12) on bookings through the airport’s website.”
One weeks’ car parking at the airport’s official on-site car park is from £46.26 which is lower than last year, and two weeks from £71.46. Bookings must be made by 31 March 2012 for parking up to 31 October 2012 on the official website: exeter-airport.co.uk.
