Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) Apprentice
The airport is looking for an in-house apprentice to join the team in maintaining its equipment used by our Air Traffic Controllers. The position is varied and this means you will learn about the design, installation, maintenance and reparation of all operational systems and equipment.
As an Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP), you will learn how to repair and maintain ATC equipment including Radar, Navaid, Meteorological, Data/Control Systems and Communication systems, through various courses and on-the-job training (OJT), and learn how to control and monitor the equipment in use, so that any problems are identified and resolved quickly.
As an Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) Technician you will learn to repair and maintain all aspects of lighting on the airfield, including unit replacement, cleaning and alignment.
Through remote learning (1 day per week) you will obtain 2 formal qualifications; a Level 4 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Qualification and an HNC in Electrical Engineering.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must be:
- 18+
- Live and work near Exeter Airport or in surrounding area.
- Must have the right to work in the UK, without requiring sponsorship.
- Need to pass security clearance checks.
- Ability to drive is essential once qualified.
- 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 including English and Maths. -Equivalent qualifications are accepted
- Work well as an individual or in a team
- Have an engineering qualification and/or A-Levels
- Have practical engineering experience (for example acquired through a Level 2 or 3 apprenticeship, or other exposure to an engineering environment)
