Menorca is well known for its summer fiestas which are held every year, the main one is the Festes de Sant Joan which is usually held towards the end of June and spans three days. During the first day, a man walks around the streets with a groomed sheep upon his shoulders and in the evening, there are bonfires. The second day see the well-groomed locally bred black horses being ridden through the street with onlookers encouraging the horse to rear on its hind legs. On the final third day, there is a jousting competition with riders spearing suspended rings with a lance and for a finale a firework show.
Xorigurer Gin Distillery is situated in Mahon, it still uses its 100-year-old copper stills to distil the drink and the shop allows you to taste the gin before buying it. There are over 10 different varieties to try though not all gin.
