Exeter Airport offers flights to Rhodes, a Greek Island in the Mediterranean Sea, from May through to October on every Friday.
Rhodes is a very popular tourist destination in the summer months due to its great warm weather and warm seas. The average temperature range from May to October is 20ºC to 27ºC but the temperatures can often reach into the low 30’sºC and on occasion as high as 41ºC. The sea temperature during the same time ranges from 20ºC to 27ºC.
There is plenty to do on this island in the sun from quite relaxed time spent sunbathing on one of its many clean and well-appointed beaches to taking trips through the old towns or visiting some of its historical sights.
Also available are many water sports including kite surfing, windsurfing and scuba diving. There have been many new dive centres open of late and they cater for the beginner to those seeking the more advanced underwater guided tours.
Rhodes has many historical sites to see but possibly the main one is the Acroplis of Lindos. This well-preserved site allows the traveller to step back in time and see the amazing architecture being built from about 200BC which has survived through to today.
Whilst in Rhodes, don’t forget to take the weight of your feet and sit in one of the cafes or restaurants that overlook the amazing beauty of the island, try the wonderful cuisine which uses the local produce. If you want to try your hand at learning to make the dishes there are cookery courses available so you can return home and either amaze friends or family or just enjoy your new-found skills.
