New Shuttle Service

Three new eight seat car park minibuses

The car park shuttle service for Exeter Airport’s passengers has been enhanced with the adoption of three new eight seat minibuses.

APCOA, the airport’s car park management company, has opted to change from their original configuration of two 18 seat minibuses for efficiency and environmental reasons.  The diesel engines of the Mercedes Sprinter have Euro-4 ratings, which means that emissions are kept to a minimum and the reduced weight together with the more efficient engines have lead to a reduction in the fuel used.

The new service has a faster turn-around time as there are fewer passengers for each journey and during busy periods services are dedicated to specific car parks. The new shuttle system operates with a spare vehicle which is brought into service for high volumes of passengers and during servicing of other vehicles.

Welcoming the new service, Jamie Christon, Exeter Airport’s managing director said; “This is a much improved service and I’m sure that our passengers will appreciate the extra comfort. There is more leg room and space for hand baggage in the passenger section and plenty of luggage space in the rear compartment.”

“We are very pleased to be able to bring this service on line and with the new livery and logo the shuttle service will be easy to identify.

“Exeter International Airport and APCOA are working in partnership to develop improved car parking services and this is the first of many initiatives.”
