Passengers parking at Exeter International Airport who have booked their car parking spaces online will now be helping a local woodland.
From this weekend the Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Trust, a conservation and education charity near Honiton, will receive £1 every time an official car park booking at the airport is made online.
The Trust, which relies entirely on donations and grants to support its 50 acre woodland, has teamed up with the airport’s official car parking operation in order to gain a grater awareness of the charity and the money raised will assist an active conservation programme and support wide ranging environmental and education projects.
The launch of the scheme coincides with the reconfiguration of the short stay car park and the introduction of the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system at all airport car parks.
Exeter Airport spokesman Stephen Ayres said; “The introduction of ANPR and the two new entrances and exits for the short stay car park should eliminate the occasional queues. We are also very excited about the woodland partnership. We feel that our long stay passengers will really appreciate the opportunity to help a local charity which is involved with the environment.”
