This Easter Saturday, Exeter Airport will welcome the first ever direct flight on a scheduled route from Germany when Flybe’s Dusseldorf route commences.
Airport staff will check-in dozens of outbound travellers for the inaugural flight to Dusseldorf before turning their attention to the first arriving aircraft with fifty German visitors. Many of the inbound passengers will be fans of the South West author Rosamonde Pilcher, whose books have been serialised on European TV and feature the region’s locations.
Flybe will also be operating flights on their other 18 Exeter routes, many of which will again bring inbound tourism into Devon and Cornwall.
Exeter Airport’s commercial executive, Richard Broadley said: “This is a busy very week for the airport as many of the holiday operators have brought forward their summer schedules, which would normally commence in May. As well as our scheduled domestic services, Good Friday will see passengers heading off to Tenerife, Alicante and Amsterdam.”
The airport is also geared up for a special charter trip to Lourdes on Easter Sunday. The pilgrimage flight will have over one hundred and twenty passengers on board who will travel for a religious experience in the French Pyrenees.
