The most prominent elements of the re-branding of Exeter International Airport have gone on show with the installation of new terminal signs and a new look website.
Using the colour pallet from the Devon brand guidelines, the airport’s new logo reflects the vibrancy of the region and emphasises the focus on people. The seven silhouetted characters in a variety of poses are now featured above the word Exeter which has a “freehand feel”. This replace a design that has been used, in a couple of guises, for the past eight years.
The external glazed wall of the airport terminal atrium has been enhanced with a three dimensional “contour-cut” logo fitted to the glass. The work was carried out by Marsh Barton based, Signs Express, who also installed the illuminated large sign on the first floor of the main terminal building. The sign company overcame the challenge of getting to the fixing point, without and the use of scaffolding or disrupting passenger flow, by using a hoist with a 20 metre reach.
Recent users of Exeter Airport’s website have also been greeted by a fresh new look. The new site, designed to in-house specifications, was developed by another city company, Rokk Media. An interactive world map has been incorporated into the design and the site navigation now uses a series of new pictogram icons. Airport managers are keen to keep users in touch with developments, new routes and holiday ideas with the upgraded website newsletter.
The airport’s communications manager, Stephen Ayres, who has been responsible for the installation of the signs and the new website said: “Since the change of ownership we have been keen to show that we are in a new era for the airport. We have already received some very positive feedback. Our passengers seem to like the new bright sign colours as they arrive at the airport and the website has been very well received. One correspondent wrote; “The new website is great, very easy to use, colourful and engaging”.
