The first ever departure of a Palmair aircraft from Exeter at the weekend marked the start of a winter series of flights to Tunisia in North Africa and both Palmair’s managing director, David Skillicorn and Exeter Airport’s managing director Jamie Christon were there to wish passengers a good flight.
A series of Boeing 737 Palmair flights to the winter hot spots of Tunisia and Fuerteventura were announced earlier this year for November until the end of March but Palmair have since made a commitment to strengthen their position at Exeter by laying on a series of flights to Tunisia in May, June and in October 2010.
Commenting on the first flight to Tunisia’s Monastir airport, which departed on Saturday 31 October, Exeter Airport’s managing director Jamie Christon said: “We are very pleased to be working with this award winning operator and the start of this new series of flights to guaranteed winter sunshine destination seems to be indicator of better times ahead. We are delighted to be teaming up with Palmair and supporting local retail shops.”
Palmair which was founded in 1957 by the late Peter Bath is still in the Bath family’s hands and they put an emphasis on quality of service and personal interaction with the clients. The UK based company, was voted Britain’s most popular short haul airline last year in a survey by Holiday Which?, the third time in the past ten years.
