New WHSmith Airport Shop Open

New shop for books, newspapers, magazines and travel accessories

A new air-side shopping facility at Exeter International Airport officially opened on Tuesday 10 February 2009.  WH Smith, the airport’s newsagent and confectionary provider, have invested over £110,000 in a new unit for the Departure Lounge at a time when many retailers are cutting back.

The Airport’s Managing Director Jamie Christon said; “We need to develop our retail facilities as we grow and the passengers expect similar facilities to those of larger airports. WH Smith has outlets at all major UK airports so we are very pleased that they have chosen to invest in Exeter.”

The new WH Smith shop at Exeter Airport, which is in addition to their units in the Check-in and Arrivals areas will cover 100 square meters and create new positions for five members of staff.

The Exeter Area WH Smith Manager, Steve Mander comments: ‘‘The WH Smith Travel division currently operates at over four hundred motorway service areas, railway stations and airports across the UK and we are delighted to be given the opportunity to undertake this latest project at Exeter Airport. The store is a ‘one stop shop’, offering air-side customers a range of books, newspapers, magazines, confectionery products and travel accessories.”
