A series of approaches to Exeter Airport’s runway will be undertaken this afternoon by the RAF.

The C-17 Globemaster aircraft which is 53 m long, has a wingspan of 52 m and a payload of 77,000 kg gives the RAF strategic capabilities and it can be used as an airborne hospital for medical evacuation missions. 

The C-17 is powered by four Pratt & Whitney F117-PW-100 turbofan engines and is designed to operate from runways as short as 1,064 m.
