Work has just begun on the development of the new air-side shopping facility at Exeter International Airport. WH Smith, the airport’s newsagent and confectionary provider, are investing over £110,000 in a new unit which will be open in readiness for the February school half term passengers.
The Airport’s Managing Director Jamie Christon said; “We need to develop our retail facilities as we grow and the passengers expect similar facilities to those of larger airports. WH Smith has outlets at all major UK airports so we are very pleased that they have chosen to invest in Exeter and build a new facility in the Departure Lounge. The work is now underway with locally based Imperial Construction and the shop-fitters will complete the project by the beginning of next month.”
The new WH Smith shop at Exeter Airport will cover 100 square meters and create new positions for five members of staff. On completion of the Departure Lounge project, the WH Smith shop in the check-in concourse will be updated.
The Exeter Area WH Smith Manager, Steve Mander comments: ‘‘The WH Smith Travel division currently operates at over four hundred motorway service areas, railway stations and airports across the UK and we are delighted to be given the opportunity to undertake this latest project at Exeter Airport. The store will be a ‘one stop shop’, offering air-side customers a range of books, newspapers, magazines, confectionery products and travel accessories.”
