Exeter International Airport is preparing itself for its busiest summer ever following the Thomas Cook announcement of another new 2010 route to Monastir in Tunisia.
Thomas Cook, recognised as the world’s longest established tour operator, has added the flights to Monastir from Exeter at a time when travellers are tempted by the destinations outside the euro-zone. The operator already had new 2010 route options to Dalaman and Antalya in Turkey as well as Palma, which started last year.
Jamie Christon the airport’s Managing Director said: “This is the biggest commitment from Thomas Cook in the history of Exeter Airport’s and we are excited about the prospect of enjoying a bumper year.
“Thomas Cook has delivered a huge increase in capacity this year and we estimate that over 25,000 extra passengers will be recorded on the flights to and from these non-euro destinations where passengers will get great value for money and guaranteed sunshine.”
The North African destination of Monastir will complement the routes already operating from Exeter with Thomson and First Choice as well as Palmair and the airport’s weekly departures to Toronto with Canadian Affair.
